Inmarsat has today launched its first worldwide handheld satellite telephone - IsatPhone Professional - which has been purpose-built for its system.

It provides the longest battery life in the market, one of the most robust handset, dependable worldwide coverage, clear voice quality and ease of use - all at one of the most competitive cost point in the market. The sat phone antennas are also very much expensive and incorporate high technology during its production.

Andrew Sukawaty, chairman and chief executive of Inmarsat, mentioned: "The suggested retail cost for IsatPhone Pro is US$699, although pricing promotions are expected to provide the end-user price to US$500-600.
